Perlite is a lightweight, white, porous material made from crushed volcanic rock - it’s a little powerhouse when it comes to growing healthy violets. Mix it into your African violet soil and layer it under the soil to help improve drainage, resist compaction, and increase aeration, allowing oxygen to reach the roots.
